📚 THE STORY BEHIND THE PARK: (click here to read more)
Bennett is located along the eastern high plains of Colorado. Established in 1872, it served as an important stop along the Kansas Pacific Railroad. The town is named after Hiram Pitt Bennet, a prominent territorial judge, Colorado Territory’s first Congressional Delegate, and Denver’s third Postmaster. His early ranching efforts played a key role in establishing regional communications.
Trupp Park, situated on Palmer Avenue, is the town’s central municipal gathering space. It honors the local Trupp family for their significant contributions to civic growth and land preservation. Before the modern facility, local riders built a DIY concrete bowl through grassroots advocacy, creating a beloved local spot that laid the foundation for the dedicated park space enjoyed today. As part of a multi-phase revitalization of Trupp Park, the modern Bennett Skatepark provides riders of all skill levels with an updated, medium-sized poured-concrete facility. The design features a seamless integration of smooth transition elements and technical street obstacles, including low quarter pipes, bank hips, a central funbox, flatbars, and grind ledges. Built to replace aging infrastructure while honoring the local riding community, the park boasts clean lines, fast concrete, and wide-open views of the prairie along the I-70 corridor.
